Alpine wall,
bunker in village Zakriž
Zgodba
Among the many cultural and historical landmarks in village Zakriž are Italian military fortifications, which were part of the 1,850-kilometer-long defensive Alpine Wall stretching from Genoa in Italy to the river Reka in Croatia. Construction began in the 1930s but was never completed. In Zakriž, the Italians built two caverns for housing troops and two bunkers, the so-called ''opere'', which were intended to hold machine guns.
